Sharing the Love of God

In thanksgiving for God's saving grace in Jesus Christ, Resurrection Lutheran Church responds with love and service to our neighbors.  This happens in our daily lives and through organized congregational ministry.  We invite you to join us in service to our neighbors.  These are some current examples of ongoing congregational ministries, and we also welcome ideas for more ways we can put our faith in action.  See the newsletter for upcoming dates and times.

Hunger Relief
Resurrection contributes to the local and global efforts to reduce and eliminate the problem of hunger.  We do so by supporting local food pantries, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, CROP Walk, and through our denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Disaster Response and World Hunger program.

Community Garden
Resurrection Lutheran Church hosts a community garden on its property on St. Paul Avenue in the Channahon Town Center.  The community garden is open to anyone who would like a plot and much of its produce is shared with local food pantries.

Women's Group
Each month Creative Hands meets for friendship and for sewing lap robes.  These blankets are delivered to local hospitals and care facilities.

Christmas Giving Tree
Each year Resurrection partners with local organizations to provide Christmas gifts for families in town.

Dare to Share
Each month there is a scheduled and coordinated volunteer and service opportunity.  It might be serving a meal at Morning Star Mission, assembling meal boxes at Feed My Starving Children, or hosting a blood drive.

Generous Giving
The people of Resurrection Lutheran Church give of the resources God entrusts to them.  These offerings support the congregation's ministry, support local service organizations, and through the ELCA support God's mission throughout the country and around the world.
