Mission: Sharing the Love of God God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that God loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4: 9-11 Resurrection Lutheran Church Core Values
Worship: Gather around Word and Sacrament to receive the good news of God’s grace and to respond in daily discipleship.
- Sunday is the primary day on which the Church assembles: the first day of creation when God transformed darkness into light and the day on which Christ rose from death and revealed himself to the disciples in the scriptures and the breaking of the bread. The baptized gather to hear the word, to pray for those in need, to offer thanks to God for the gift of salvation, to receive the bread of life and the cup of blessing, and to be renewed for the daily witness of faith, hope, and love. To guests, strangers, and all in need, the Church offers these good things of God’s grace. (With One Voice, Augsburg Fortress, 1995, page 8).
Discipleship: Grow in faith, love, and obedience to the will of God through prayer, study, fellowship, stewardship, service, and justice.
- We give you thanks, almighty God, that you have refreshed us through the healing power of this gift of life; and we pray that in your mercy you would strengthen us, through this gift, in faith toward you and in fervent love toward one another; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. (post-Communion prayer, Lutheran Book of Worship)
Outreach: Invite and welcome our neighbors to experience the love of God here at Resurrection and within the Church universal.
- You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8.
